The Asian financial crisis, followed by very high inflation, forced the government to raise bank interest rates. Reita Farianti, the President Director of Star Asset Management, stated that the type of mutual fund that is most resilient in such conditions is...
"For example, in 2005, most investors bought fixed income mutual funds, as a result the value of these mutual funds fell by 10 percent, which made customers angry. "The lack of understanding about mutual funds at that time made many customers wonder about where their money went," said Reita, quoted from the Mirae Asset Sekuritas YouTube channel, Tuesday (17/10/2023).
Reita explained that these customers did not understand that the decline in the value of mutual funds was triggered by a decrease in bond prices, bonds, so immediate action was needed to overcome this problem.
"To overcome this problem, considering that I have a profile as a banker, my team and I are using our maximum energy. We established a call and post center which aims to provide education to customers and provide solutions to the problems they experience. "Apart from that, we are also creating new products that can shift customers from mutual funds that are experiencing losses to new products that are more suited to market situations," said Reita.
“For personal investing, my strategy focuses on discipline. "I am looking for investments that can beat inflation and provide capital gains in the long term," continued Reita.
Because of this, Reita put most of his investment into stock mutual funds and allocated it to the United States dollar.
“I also have life insurance for protection and a small amount of investment in moderate mutual funds,” said Reita.
Reita explained that when it comes to the personal investment strategy he carries out, it must be in accordance with the investment objectives, time period and risk profile.
"I emphasize the importance of discipline in investing and give tips to housewives who want to send their children to good schools to consider stock mutual funds and moderate mutual funds if they have a sufficient time period," concluded Reita.
